How much does it cost?

WE OFFER 2 PRICE SETS.

1) Home service – analysis by a private lab

The price varies according to the test prescribed by your health care professional. Medialpha guarantees the best price on the market, up to 30 % less than the price of large established clinic. Send us your lab requisition and we’ll call you within 48 hours with your estimate. If it’s urgent, call us. Our professionals are on the road at no extra cost if the conditions of price and distance are met.

2) Home service – analysis by a public hospital

Fixed price of 90$. You must be covered by RAMQ and have a valid RAMQ number. Small distance surcharge may apply.

I sent you my prescription, what happens next?

Medialpha wants to simplify your life and save your time. The process starts the moments medialpha receives your prescription.

After you receiving your prescription, we do the analysis and find the lowest prices, without compromising the quality of your analysis. Our professional will call you back within 48 hours (usually, we call you back same day, but sometimes we need to confirm certain details with your physician. This is why we give ourselves a 48 hours delay) .

During our call, we give you the price options and you chose the service you want! We also inform you of any special instructions to prepare for your test. This call is totally free: you have no obligation of purchase. However, our professional will offer you to take an appointment when and where you want. We adapt to your schedule!!!

Why do I have to pay when booking my appointments?

When booking your appointment, we ask for your for payment information. This allows the professional to be in and out as quickly as possible and save your valuable time.

Do not worry: the payment will only pass the day after your appointment. If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, your credit card will not be charged if you notify us 24 hours in advance. For our contact information, click here.

Do I need a prescription?

Yes, according to Article 136 for the “Regulation respecting the application of the Act respecting medical laboratories, organ and tissue conservation and the disposal of human bodies” any laboratory analysis must be requested by a medical professional who has the competence.

Who can prescribe in Quebec?

How to prepare for blood tests?

1) Prepare the night before

The day before your appointment, prepare the following documents:

  • your RAMQ card;
  • your signed prescription;
  • your payment method, if you have not already provided the required information (check, credit card, money).

2) Verify if you have to fast

Typically, you must be fasting 12 hours before the blood test with no alcohol for 48 hours. Some tests may have other constraints (e.g. do not eat seafood 72 hours). All these constraints are clearly indicated on the doctor’s prescription and our team will confirm them with you when taking your appointment.

3) Verify if you have a urine test

If you have a urine test, do not urinate for 30 minutes before your appointment. Some urine tests have special instructions, if that’s the case, our team will provide you the information when taking your appointment.

4) Drink water

Even if you are fasting, it is advisable to drink water 30 minutes before the blood test( Up to 2 glasses of water  500 ml) .Drinking water facilitates  blood flow and makes veins easier to find.

Are your services are reimbursed by insurance?

Yes, all Medialpha services come with receipts for your insurance. Since our professional are all members of their respective order, medical insurance reimburse our patients without problems. And if a situation occurs, you can count on our customer service to assist you.

Note that any fee not reimbursed by your insurance, can be deducted as medical expense in your tax return. Talk to your accountant about it.

I have a requisition from 2 years ago. Is it still valid?

Yes, requisitions do not expire.

Can I reuse my previous requisition?

No. Unless otherwise specified, a requisition is only valid once.

Can I request that my results would be sent to another physician?

The results will be sent to all physicians listed on the requisition. Medialpha is not allowed to add an additional physician.
